Blog entries should range between 500 – 1,500 words.
Keep your tone neutral, inclusive, positive and fun. Check out what we’ve previously posted on the website.
Make sure the post you submit is unique and original to Red Eye Chronicle. We DO NOT accept posts that have already been submitted or published elsewhere online (not even on your personal blog) or that you plan to distribute to other websites. You can provide links to your site or other sites that are referenced, but the article has to be authentic and new.
Avoid SEO-driven content:
Red Eye Chronicle is not interested in content solely driven by search engine optimization (SEO). If you work for a content farm or are a freelancer who writes articles for the sole purpose of linking up keywords in an effort to boost SEO, then Red Eye Chronicle may not be the best fit.
Bio and promotion:
We are more than happy to include a byline and a brief bio containing links to your personal website and/or social media pages. The author bio blurb should be 25-55 words in length. Also send a photo that you’d like us to use for your bio. Your bio will be featured on the website and the articles that you write.
We enjoy connecting with new contributors:
Red Eye Chronicle covers a lot of material and sometimes we are not able to respond to all submissions right away. That being said, we can assure you that we carefully read every single submission that we receive. If your post has been accepted, we will respond within 14 days. If the editor rejects your post, you’ll be informed via email. We can’t promise a publishing date, but it will be published once it is in the workflow. You’ll be informed regarding your article status when it goes live on Red Eye Chronicle. We’ll also send you the link to your published post.
Submitting to Red Eye Chronicle:
By submitting to Red Eye Chronicle, you acknowledge that you accept our terms, and any form of editing that might occur on behalf of the Red Eye Chronicle editorial team.
Send emails to email@example.com with your article attached in a word document. We will then review it. Otherwise, you can submit a pitch beforehand and we can review if the topic is on track for our audience.
Once your posts go live, please share with your friends via email, your website, Facebook, Twitter, and any other social media you use. The more people who view your post, the better it is for both you and Red Eye Chronicle.
What should I write about?
Browse the articles on our site to get a sense for the type of work we publish. We like industry news about the legalization of cannabis, product reviews, opinions, and other informative or entertaining content. Please write in the “you” voice as much as possible. Support your article with personal experience, stories or relevant and authentic sources.
Should I include links within the piece?
Yes. Please include links that will be helpful and relevant for the reader. Include a link to the source if you mention a news story or a brand. Ideally, you’d link to quality websites, credible news outlets, or good supporting information. This way, readers can follow your line of thinking and investigate further if they want to know more.
Insert links in your copy via anchor text or keywords. No HTML, please! You can also give the list of sources that you’ve used to gather the information at the end of the post.
Will you edit my post?
Our content editor will review and edit to post to ensure brand and tone consistency and revise any spelling or grammar errors.
Should I include a photo?
Our editors can supply photography for your articles but we encourage our writers to submit images. Original digital photo or stock photos can be submitted as .jpg or .png. in high-resolution. We reserve the right to edit and/or crop photographs.
We look forward to your contribution!
